Wednesday 18th June - walk *** – Around Ipswich including picnic in
Christchurch Park – sunny and hot.
We had to go to Ipswich to pick up a windsurfing mast I had bought from
Ipswich plus we had to go to a bank there too so after I did my exercises
in a very hot and sunny back garden where I was joined by a Hummingbird
moth before I packed a picnic leaving home around midday. After picking up
the mast we managed to find a space in Park Road to park right next to a
entrance to Christchurch Park! We set off through the park but it was
really too hot for an enjoyable walk with very little breeze too, passing
the round pond and Mansion house before heading into Ipswich town centre,
not the best idea in the heat. Luckily the bank visit went quickly and
after taking a few pics of the fountains in the Cornhill we headed back to
the park and were pleased to be in the shelter of the trees! The wild lake
was quiet for wildlife just a few geese, gulls and mandarin ducks! I
favourite seat in the lavender garden was taken but we waited near-by until
it became free then went and had our picnic but it was way too hot, I was
sweating just sitting still! We got a few squirrels for the peanuts we had
taken but they were not keen on the heat either! We were pleased to finish
lunch and set off
